Best Man Responsibilities
The groom selects his Best Man. It is typically his brother, father, a close
relative, or best friend. In the case of a second marriage, he can even choose his son
to be his Best Man.
The Best Man plays an important role. He is responsible for:
- Getting the groom to the ceremony on time
- Holding onto the rings during the ceremony
- Giving the first toast to the bride and groom at the reception
Other things that the Best Man might do...depending on what the groom wants:
- Host the bachelor party for the groom
- Attend rehearsal dinner
- Arrange for groomsmen to be fitted for tuxes
- Help the groom get dressed
- Stay with the groom up until the time of the ceremony and offer moral support
- Make sure the groom is packed appropriately for his honeymoon
- Pay the Officiant and other vendors
- Dance with Honor Attendant during first dance
- Sign the marriage license as a witness
- Decorate the get-away car
- Drive the couple of their wedding night hotel
These responsibilities change from wedding to
wedding....just be sure he knows what is expected of him.
